VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Beach Fire Investigators have arrested a man in connection with a fire on Wessex Lane less than a week ago.
Fire crews responded to a residential fire on Feb. 4 at approximately 11:53 p.m. in the 1000 block of Wessex Lane.
The two-story house was fully engulfed in flames and smoke by the time fire crews arrived to the scene.
Three adults and two pets were ultimately displaced by the fire, but no one was reported injured.
An investigation led to the arrest of Michael Deatherage, who was taken into custody on Feb. 8 and charged with arson to an occupied structure.
Deatherage is currently being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
