PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Portsmouth Police Department arrested a man on Monday in connection with a shooting on Chestnut Street that left a man dead.
According to officials, 38-year-old Omar Tyrone Evans was arrested in connection with the homicide of 29-year-old Damarcus Dildy on March 17.
Officers responded to the 2400 block of Chestnut Street on March 17 at 2:13 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
Dildy was located with fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Evans was charged with one count each for use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a felon and shooting in commission of a felony.
Officers stated they are still searching for two people, 20-year-old Omario Keyshawn Evans and 19-year-old Amari Deon Adams, in connection with the incident.
