Norfolk man indicted on child sex crime charges in federal court

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Norfolk man has been indicted on several child sex crime charges in federal court on Tuesday.

According to court documents, in July of 2024, Matthew Ian Britt attempted to persuade, induce, entice and coerce an individual he believed to be 13 years old to engage in sexual activity.

The documents also state that, if Britt is convicted on any of the violations alleged in the indictment, he will have to forfeit any property used in the commission of the violation, as well as any proceeds Britt may have obtained as a result of the violation.

Britt is currently being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
