NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A man was arrested early Monday morning after a woman was found dead inside a home.
According to officials, officers with the Newport News Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of 75th Street just before 2:30 a.m. for reports of an unresponsive female.
Officers arrived to the scene and found 35-year-old Emma Carolina Lopez Navarre not breathing. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
After an investigation, police arrested 47-year-old Javier Hernandez-Orellana and charged him with second-degree murder. Police said Navarre was involved in a domestic assault with Hernandez-Orellana.
