NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in Norfolk after a double shooting that left a man dead early Monday morning at the Cook Out on East Little Creek Road.
Michael D. Parker, of Norfolk, has been charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding and two counts of using a firearm, police said, and was taken into custody at the scene. He is being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
According to police, officers were called to the Cook Out at 720 E. Little Creek Road at 1:25 a.m. for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found two men who had been shot.
Photos from the scene show a heavy police presence at the Cook Out.
One man, later identified as Jason C. Allred, 25, of New Mexico, was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
The second victim sustained a non life-threatening graze wound.
A manager at Cook Out, Jonathan Bryan, told 10 On Your Side the man who was later pronounced dead ordered food at the walk-up window and tried getting into the passenger side of a car at the drive-thru.
Bryan said this is when the driver of the car shot the man.
“I will never forget seeing them dragging his lifeless body from the bush,” Bryan said. “Never have I had someone shoot through my drive-thru window, that was the scariest moment I ever had at Cook Out.”
Bryan also stated the man who received a non life-threatening injury was an employee and that he did not go to the hospital.
Another employee at the Cook Out claimed the shots came from outside of the restaurant and then went inside the building.
