Man arrested in Mulberry Loop shooting goes to court for different case

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The same man facing two charges of shooting into an occupied dwelling in Virginia Beach on Monday appeared in court in Norfolk for a different case.

Kaevon Hinnant appeared in court Friday after allegedly assaulting his grandmother. The judge denied his bond saying that he was a risk to his family and the public.

On the same day as the Virginia Beach shooting incident, Hinnant was reportedly at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for a mental health crisis. He was given a follow up appointment for May 15, but missed it due to the arrest.

He is expected to appear back in Norfolk court July 10.
