NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Charges have been dropped against a Gloucester man accused of raping a North Carolina woman he met online in a Newport News parking lot.
In November 2019, Newport News police said 23-year-old Ryan Randolph was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old Corapeake woman on Sept. 23, 2019. The woman originally reported the case to the York County Sheriff’s Office and Newport News police received information in the case on Oct. 3, 2019.
Police said Randolph met the woman online and got her to meet him in Yorktown. Randolph was accused of then driving the woman to a parking lot in Newport News and allegedly forcing her to perform sexual acts, according to police.
Randolph was charged with abduction, rape, sodomy and object sexual penetration.
All charges were dropped March 30, 2021.
