NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty to an armed robbery on Tuesday after he and a co-defendant robbed the clerks at a Norfolk Video Game Heaven last year.

Occurring on the night of Aug. 22, 2023, Jayvon Antonio Bell and Eddie Roschelle King browsed the video game store on Colonial Avenue until the remaining customers exited. Once the other customers left, King pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded all the cash from the register while Bell stole several video games and demanded game console controllers.

Leaving with a bag of cash and merchandise, the two men got into a minivan and fled the scene.

The co-defendants were involved in another robbery within hours of the Video Game Heaven incident. Chesapeake Police informed Norfolk Police investigators of individuals with the same physical descriptions and minivan committing a robbery in Chesapeake. Norfolk investigators utilized the Flock license plate recognition system to confirm the minivan had been driven in the locations of the robberies.

On Aug. 25, 2023, Chesapeake Police officers located the minivan and arrested Bell.

Investigators interviewed Bell, who admitted to being in possession of the minivan during the robberies.

Investigators then identified King once finding he and Bell had previously been arrested for shoplifting from a different game store in another city. He was later arrested by Chesapeake Police for the Aug. 22, 2023, robbery committed in that city.

On April 29, 2024, King agreed to plead guilty to armed robbery and the Commonwealth agreed to dismiss his additional charges. King’s sentencing hearing is set for Oct. 18.

On Tuesday, Bell agreed to plead guilty to armed robbery and be sentenced to a maximum active term of five years in exchange for the Commonwealth dismissing his additional charges. His sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 6.

As for the Chesapeake robbery, both co-defendants pleaded guilty and were sentenced earlier this year in Chesapeake Circuit Court to their charges stemming from the incident.
