NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two men died Thursday night after police say they were shot off North Military Highway in Norfolk.

Police said in a news release dispatchers received a call around 7:50 p.m. for a shooting in the 6500 block of N. Military Highway, in the Park Crescent area.

Responding officers found 23-year-old Tamian Davis, of Portsmouth, and 29-year-old Markee Turner, of Melfa, inside a parked car suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said Turner was pronounced dead at the scene, while Davis was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

“I never … I’ll never be the same again,” said Tammi Scarbough, the mother of Davis. “He’s my only son.”

Scarbough said she is confident her son is dead because of who he was hanging out with that night.

“He just got the worst end of the deal,” Scarbough said. “Being with the wrong people at the wrong time.”

Davis is described by his mother as a jokester who was “a good man” and good to her.

“He didn’t deserve this,” Scarbough said.

Detectives have not released information on a suspect or motive for the shooting, police said.
