Colonial Downs Group looks for new Rosie’s gaming site in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The search is back on for an ideal site to build a Rosie’s Gaming Emporium in the city of Chesapeake after the Colonial Downs Group says they’ve withdrawn their current application.

Earlier this month, the group announced they had found a potential site for their off-track gaming establishment at 220 Rainbow Lane near Battlefield Boulevard and Interstate 64.

But the tide has shifted and the group says, after extensive review, they’re not moving forward with that potential site.

“We are currently evaluating alternative sites and are confident we will find a location that meets our needs and those of the community,” said Colonial Downs Group Chief Operating Officer Aaron Gomes via press release.

They’re still planning on bringing a location of Rosie’s Gaming Emporium to the city of Chesapeake in 2019, but Gomes says we’ll have to wait on the details for the new proposed site.

If all goes according to plan, this will be the Colonial Downs Groups’s fifth Rosie’s location.

They broke ground on a location in Hampton on Feb. 11 and have already established locations in New Kent County, Richmond and Vinton.
