CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — A Charlottesville resident has recently been crowned Miss Virginia 2024.
According to Miss Virginia Opportunity Inc., Carlehr Swanson, a Charlottesville resident, was crowned Miss Virginia 2024 on Saturday, June 29, at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, winning a total of $22,500 in scholarship awards.
As Miss Virginia, Swanson will serve as a goodwill ambassador, performing artist, and motivational speaker as she travels across the Commonwealth.
She is hoping to visit more than 70 elementary schools on behalf of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control to promote healthy choices regarding substance abuse prevention and to spread her own personal message to people about the importance of music in one’s life.
Swanson will represent Virginia in the national Miss America competition in January 2025.
