CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. (WAVY) – Four sea turtle nests are still incubating at the Seashore!

This year ranked the sixth highest number of nests laid at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, with over 19,200 successful hatches. It is common for nesting numbers to fluctuate from year to year, as sea turtles typically nest every two to four years. The trend at Cape Hatteras has generally been moving upward since data collection began. It is possible there will be even more nests next season.
