The phrase “What a difference a day makes” is perfectly appropriate for our weather.  This morning we had heavy rain and temperatures were sitting in the low 60s.

By the time we get to tomorrow morning we’ll be starting off near 20 degrees.

This morning we were ahead of a strong cold front.  Rain and gusty south winds preceded it.  Meanwhile, there was a lot of snow to our north around an area of low pressure.

The whole system is moving east.  So the cold front will swipe east through Hampton Roads.  The rain showers will wrap up by the mid-late morning.  There may only be a copule of sprinkles or flurries later in the day.  Temps will drop down to the low 50s or even near 50 by noon.  Then temps will only be in the upper 30s to low 40s during the mid-afternoon.

The wind will turn to out of the west and then northwest behind the front.  Winds will run at 15-25mph with gusts up to 40mph.

By tonight we’ll have mostly clear skies and falling temps.  We’ll drop down to the upper teens to low 20s by tomorrow morning.  Luckily we will have mostly clear skies for the lunar eclipse tonight.  It starts around 10:30pm and goes until about 1:50pm.

Tomorrow morning temps will be near 20 degrees, but the wind will still be up out of the northwest.  Gusts could be to 40mph.  Therefore wind chills will be in the single digits and teens at that time.  It will be rough for any folks that have to go to work.  It will also be rough for any Martin Luther King Jr. events. At least it will be dry and mostly sunny.   HIgh temps will only be near 30 during the afternoon.  We’ll be cold and dry Tuesday morning with lows in the teens across much of the region.  It will be a little milder right near the shore as water temperatures are in the mid 40s. We’ll be mostly sunny on Tuesday.  High temps will be near 40 by the afternoon.  We’ll actually have highs near 60 by Wednesday afternoon.  Wow!  More bouncing temperatures into next weekend.  Highs will be in the 50s with rain on Thursday.  We’ll be dry and 41 on Friday.  Then highs will be in the low 30s on Saturday.
