ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office is renewing a push to solve a murder case from 2013.
Tuesday marks six years since authorities found 21-year-old Torrey Anderson shot to death, and his body burned in a field in Carrollton.
The Murfreesboro, North Carolina, native had ties to Newport News and Smithfield.
The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post Tuesday investigators are continuously following up on leads.
Officials there say that Isle of Wight investigators have been in contact with Northampton County officials, and other officials in North Carolina to continue moving this case forward.
Anderson’s mother Tamira Anderson spoke with 10 On Your Side, saying, “The family knows that somebody out there knows something and they are afraid to say it, but we’ve even offered a reward and we just want someone to come forward. It was a horrific crime and Torrey didn’t deserve what happened to him.”
The family is offering a $15,000 reward.
