GATES COUNTY, NC. (WAVY) — Three suspects have been arrested after a man was found fatally shot at his home on Adams Swamp Road early Saturday morning.

Gates County deputies responded to the home and found Isaac Jermaine Hawk shot to death outside of the home.

Multiple witnesses told the Gates County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation that the suspects were in Hawk’s driveway when the shooting took place.

Suffolk police were then able to detain the three suspects: Terrell Parker, Dominque Hathaway and Marcus Walton. The three have been charged with open murder in connection to the death of Hawk.

Neighbors tell 10 On Your Side that the community is normally quiet.

RC Penland says he and his wife were getting ready for bed when they heard five gunshots.

“She said what was that? And I said gunfire! After 25 years in the military, I learned gunfire quite quick in Vietnam,” Penland said.

He says that after the shots, he heard a car peel off but he wasn’t too surprised that the shooting happened.

“A lot of times on Friday and Saturday nights, at the corner where that happened, there’s a lot of drag racing, racing up and down the street,” he said.
