CNU tops Virginia Wesleyan 74-72 in OT

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The 91st meeting between Christopher Newport and Virginia Wesleyan went to overtime before the Captains prevailed 74-72, giving them their third-straight win to open the season.

Former Grassfield High School standout Toa Hollenbeck led CNU with 22 points, as the Captains rallied for the win, while the Marlins were led by Omari Deveaux’s 22 points.


It was Wesleyan’s first loss of the season.

CNU is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Wilson College.

Virginia Wesleyan returns to the court Saturday, Nov. 23 at home against Regent.
