(NEXSTAR) — Whether you forgot an item for your cookout or looking for a quick road trip snack, it can be hard to know what is – and isn’t – open on July 4.
Luckily, most major retailers, fast food chains, and grocery stores will be open for the holiday. Locally owned businesses may not, or they may have limited hours for Independence Day.
It’s best to call ahead or check online to see if the business you’re looking for is open.
Here’s a look at what stores will be open for July 4:
Albertsons: Not only will Albertsons stores be open on July 4, but it will be offering seniors 10% off on their in-store grocery purchases.
Apple: If you break your phone or need a charger, Apple stores will be open, though you’ll want to check online for your location’s hours.
ALDI: Stores will close at 4 p.m., according to ALDI. You can check your store hours online.
Barnes and Noble: While open, Barnes and Noble stores may have limited hours. You can find your location’s hours here.
Best Buy: Stores will be open but close early on July 4, according to Best Buy. You can find store hours here.
Big Lots: Locations will be open for the holiday. You can confirm your store’s hours on Big Lots’ website.
CVS: Stores will be open but CVS pharmacies may have limited hours that you can check online.
Dick’s Sporting Goods: Though Dick’s Sporting Goods stores will be open for Independence Day, stores will close early. You can find your store’s hours here.
Hobby Lobby: Your Hobby Lobby store will likely be open — but close early — on July 4. Store hours can be found online.
Home Depot: While Home Depot stores will be open for July 4, they’ll close early. You can check store hours online.
Home Goods: Looking for a last minute July 4 decoration? Home Goods stores will be open but close early for the holiday.
IKEA: Hoping to put together some furniture on July 4? IKEA stores will be open, but close a few hours early. You can find your store’s hours here.
JCPenney: Stores will be open for July 4; you can confirm your location’s hours online.
Kohl’s: Your nearest Kohl’s will be open, but close early, on Independence Day. You can find your store’s hours here.
Kroger: The Kroger family of stores will be open for their regular hours on July 4, according to the company’s website.
Lowe’s: If you’re doing some home improvement projects on July 4, you’re in luck: Lowe’s stores will be open for the holiday, but with limited hours that you can check online.
Macy’s: While you’ll want to confirm your Macy’s locations hours online, stores will be open for July 4.
PetSmart: If you need to get some pet supplies, PetSmart stores will be open but close early on Independence Day.
Petco: Stores will be open on July 4. You can confirm your location’s hours on Petco’s website.
Rite Aid: While Rite Aid stores will be open on July 4, their pharmacies may have limited hours. You can find your location’s details online.
Sam’s Club: Your local Sam’s Club will be open with limited hours on July 4 – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Club members
Target: If you have to make a Target run on July 4, you’re in luck – stores will be open. Pharmacies and other services in your local Target may, however, be unavailable or have shortened hours. You can check those hours online.
T.J.Maxx: You’ll be able to visit T.J.Maxx stores on July 4, though they will close early for the holiday. Store hours can be found online.
Trader Joe’s: If you need to stop at Trader Joe’s, stores will be open until 5 p.m. local time on July 4.
Walgreens: While Walgreens stores will be open, pharmacy hours may be limited. You can find those online.
Walmart: Stores will be open for the holiday, and you can find hours listed on Walmart’s website.
Wegmans: Your local Wegmans will be open for July 4 but pharmacy hours may be limited.
Whole Foods: Stores will be open, but Whole Foods notes hours may be limited.
Because many major restaurant chains are franchised, locations may operate on varying and limited hours for July 4. Representatives tell Nexstar it’s best to check your restaurant’s hours online or via their mobile apps before visiting.

If you’re traveling, like millions of other Americans are expected to, most gas stations and convenience stores will also be open.
Costco and fast food chain Raising Cane’s are among a handful of businesses that will be closed for the July 4 holiday.
You also shouldn’t expect to receive any mail or packages from the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, Amazon, or FedEx, as all four close their services (or at least most of them) for Independence Day.
