VIRIGNIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A commemoration event took place on The Oceanfront for the 82nd Anniversary of the Battle of Midway on Friday.
This WWII battle was a turning point in the war for the U.S. Commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic Doug Verissimo honored those who participated in the battle that is marked annually from June 4-7.
The ceremony included a flyover with two aircrafts from Airborne Command & Control Squadron 120. The U.S. Fleet Forces Band Brass Quintet performed the National Anthem and the Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy Color Guard presented the colors.
