HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank established a Culinary Program the moves people from food insecure to the kitchen. For those who meet the curriculum requirements, the 12-week course trains adults in culinary techniques, food safety and job readiness.

The Peninsula Foodbank just graduated their 28th class and upon completion, grads work in places like local restaurants, cafeterias and food trucks.

Even so, the students and graduates of the program tell us it is about more than just food and cooking…they walk away with valuable life skills like time management, leadership, teamwork, decision making, goal setting and conflict resolution.
