HRS: Meet musician and sound healer Kayce Laine

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Music has always been a part of life for Chesapeake native, Kayce Laine. The daughter of local music legend, Lewis McGehee, she grew up singing and performing with her dad and intrenched in the music scene. She began performing solo gigs as soon as she could drive and began writing her own music when she went to college at the University of Virginia.

After living in New York City for several years, she relocated to Nashville where she found it difficult to land consistent performing opportunities. She found herself having an identity crisis and a lack of creativity and turned to sound healing as a way to reach a better mind set.

From there, her passion for sound healing ignited and she now hosts sound baths and teaches the art in addition to her music. While she currently lives in Nashville, she still comes home to Hampton Roads often. She’ll be performing alongside her dad at the Chesapeake Wine Fest on Oct. 12, and the Town Point Virginia Wine Festival Oct. 20.
