VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Pharrell’s Something in the Water music festival will return to its birthplace during the second weekend of October, and that makes Michael Mauch, the owner of the Harvest restaurant, happy.

“Yes, ma’am, yeah,” Mauch said. “We’re hoping to have a little bit better weather this year. Very excited to have it back. You know, obviously a little bit more heads-up would be great. But I’m just excited to have it here and continue. It’s internationally known.

Getting control of the spring break crowd was the genesis of SITW. The third visit to the strip syncs up with fall breaks at several Virginia colleges and universities.

Timing is everything in show business, and the October festival fills a financial void in the fall, and it ducks the rainy spring season that brought torrential rain one year and a tornado last year.

“We’re fortunate to have the Neptune Festival at the end of September and beginning of October, but then after that it starts slowing down and we’re just lucky to have it.” said Coastal Edge owner Deepak Nachnani.

Oct. 11 is the scheduled premiere of Piece by Piece the Lego Pharrell biopic that features Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, and the 757’s Timbaland. Stars from around the globe could visit the 757 this fall.

Regina Mobley: So, for example, if Beyonce shows up and orders a beet salad, would you know what to do?

Michael Mauch: Yes, ma’am. I will make sure she’s happy.

There’s no word on the lineup and the prices of tickets. 10 On Your Side reached out to several hotel operators, who say some hotels are already booking rooms for the second week of October.
