Break the Cycle: Domestic Violence Awareness Month events

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — This year marks six years of the Break the Cycle series at WAVY with 10 On Your Side Anchor and Reporter Kiahnna Patterson.

Every Wednesday, we are working with the Hampton Roads Show, which airs weekdays at 11 a.m. on WAVY TV 10, to highlight five different nonprofit organizations and shelters in the region.


Below is the schedule for the Hampton Roads Show:

October 2 — HER shelter in Portsmouth
October 9 YWCA in Norfolk
October 16Genieve Shelter in Suffolk
October 23Samaritan House in Virginia Beach
October 30 Transitions Family Violence Services in Hampton

October 9 through October 30, on WAVY TV 10, look for different reports at 4:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.

All month, the Genevie Shelter in the Western Tidewater area is challenging supporters to donate a ‘Dollar-a-Day.’

The Newport News Police Department Domestic Violence Team is sponsoring a donation drive to benefit Transitions Family Violence Services. Suggested items and drop off locations are listed below:
