NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Make your plans now for the annual Ocean View Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Norfolk. The tradition has been going strong since 1967!

This year’s Grand Marshal is especially grand to WAVY TV 10. It’s our own legendary Sports Director Bruce Rader!

“It is an incredible honor to receive this opportunity. The Norfolk Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is known throughout the country as being one of the premiere Saint Patrick’s Day events. I can’t wait to see all of the revelers out on the parade route on Saturday,” said Rader.

It’s a popular event, so if you don’t have a friend who lives on the route, hopefully you’ll get lucky with a spot. There is on-street parking in the neighborhoods and off-street parking available at Sarah Constant Beach Park, Ocean View Beach Park and Ocean View Elementary.

The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Northside Middle School, then makes its way through Ocean View for about a mile and a half.

And if you want to keep the party going, the Columbian Club of Ocean View hosts an After Parade Party at 211 W. Government Ave. with live music. This year’s performers are Tidewater Drive (outside) and The Janitors (inside the Hall). Food and beverages will be available for purchase. So, don’t forget to bring some green – and your ID. This event is for 21 and older only.
