The last few days we have been dealing with some late Summer heat and humidity. However, today we are going to transition our weather to some cooler/drier air. As I write this a cool front is sinking slowly to the south.
There were some scattered showers and storms yesterday ahead of the front. Then scattered showers continued on and off through this morning.
We had lots of clouds, some rain, and some warm/humid air this morning along the front. As the front is very slow, we’ll still have a chance for scattered rain showers through midday.
Winds will turn out of the north by the late morning. They will run at 10-15mph. All of these features will keep high temps to around 80 degrees this afternoon.
We all should dry out nicely by the late afternoon. Dew points will drop down closer to 60.
After that we are looking good for a couple of days. The weather should be great tomorrow as all the kids head back to school! High temps will be in the mid 70s with lots of sunshine.
Dew points will be down in the 50s.
We’ll have more great weather on Wednesday! We’ll be partly sunny with highs in the upper 70s. Low temps will be in the 60s with a few 50s inland. Then we’ll be in the upper 70s on Thursday, but the moisture will be increasing. So we’ll have more cloud cover. At this time I’m keeping Thursday rain-free. However, a slight chance for a shower may sneak in before we get there. Our next best chance for rain will be on Friday. Highs will be in the low 80s.
We did get some much-needed rainfall rain recently. We just finished out the month of August well below average.
Over the last 24 hours we picked up various amounts of rainfall. Some locations had over an inch like Melfa, Windsor, and Naval Station Norfolk. There were many other spots which had less than two tenths of a inch.
We may pick up another tenth of an inch until 1pm. A few isolated locations could see up to a half an inch. The rain should end by the mid afternoon.
In the tropics there are 3 tropical disturbances that we are tracking.
The one near the Texas coast has a low chance at becoming a tropical system, but it will probably bring heavy rain to that region regardless. The one in the eastern Atlantic has a medium chance of formation over the next few days as it moves west. The one near the Lesser Antilles has a medium chance of formation as it rolls through the Caribbean. We’ll keep an eye on all of them, but there is nothing that should impact our region anytime soon.
