We just wrapped up April. (That’s hard to believe). We finished out about a degree and a half above average for temperatures for the month.
The last 2 days were well above average. The average highs this time of year are in the low-mid 70s. Yesterday we hit 87 degrees. A cool front is slowly sinking towards the region today from the north.
The front is forecast to move just to our south and then stall out. We’ll have isolated showers this morning. Then we’ll have scattered showers and a few thunderstorms in the afternoon.
There will be a higher chance for rain and thunderstorms to the south. There will be less of a chance to the north.
We’ll go between partly and mostly cloudy skies today. There will be a southwest then northerly wind at 8-12mph. High temps will be in the upper 70s with low 80s inland/south.
However, temps will fall a bit later this afternoon. They will probably drop to the low-mid 70s in the metro.
Tomorrow the front will start out just to our south. We’ll probably have some fog in the region because of this. Then the front will lift north as a warm front through the day. It should be a nice day. High temps will be in the low 80s with some mid 80s inland/south.
We’ll be partly cloudy. Humidity should be low-moderate. We’ll be a bit cooler on Friday as another front gets close to the area. We’ll be partly cloudy with high temps in the upper 70s.
The front will sink more to the south over the weekend, but it will still be close to the area. This will keep our high temps in the 70s.
However, the humidity will be going up quite a bit.
We’ll be partly to mostly cloudy on Saturday. There will be some scattered showers later in the afternoon.
Keep in mind that the forecast for Saturday has gotten just a bit drier. We are still looking at a good chance for rain on Sunday.
I know the timing stinks, but hopefully this is when we’ll pick up some much-needed rainfall. We just finished out April with a little over a 2 inch deficit.
Some folks will miss the rain today. Any showers that do fall will put down a tenth of an inch or two. If you get under the isolated thunderstorms, then you may get up to a half an inch.
We’ll likely get more rain over the weekend, but I’m a little leery to talk about amounts just yet. I’ll cover it more tomorrow.
In the long term it looks like we are done with the chilly air for a while. Maybe we’ll be done for the season. We’ll see. Remember, we had some cold shots all the way into early June last year.
