Blog: Warmer next 2 days. Wet for the big game?

Weekend Forecast

Today we are definitely going to warm things up a bit. However, the trade off is that we’ll have more clouds. Also our rain chances are going to go up this weekend. Let’s talk about it…

Today high pressure is sliding offshore. We have a southwest wind developing at all levels. This is pulling up a warmer and more humid airmass.

Regional Weather Map

We started off with lots of clouds and some sprinkles this morning. The sprinkles were very spotty.

Camera At ORF This Morning

After lots of clouds and some sprinkles this morning we should have a little clearing going into the midday and the afternoon. We’ll have a southwest breeze today running at 5-15mph. This will help to push our high temps to the upper 50s to low 60s later today.

Forecast Temperatures

It should be a decent afternoon. It should be nice weather to open the windows and to go for a walk for a while.

Tomorrow we’ll have mostly cloudy skies. The moisture will increase some more, but there won’t be any big weather features in the area until late in the day. So there will be a few rain showers. Our model is bullish on the rain. It has a big area of showers from mid morning until the early afternoon.

Future Trak (Saturday Morning)

However, other models like the GFS and NAM have a lot less rain.

GFS Model (Saturday)

For now I’m calling for a few scattered showers, but check back for updates. High temps will be in the mid-upper 60s. We’ll have a strong southwest breeze. That will be ahead of a cold front that will enter the area in the later evening. Rain will increase along and behind the front. Especially into Sunday morning and midday.

GFS Sunday Morning

Hopefully, the showers should taper off or end by Sunday evening. However, as of this time, it looks like at least a few showers will hang around during the evening.

High temps will be in the 50s. The front will stall to our south on Monday. We’ll have some rain but less than Sunday. The chance will be a little higher over North Carolina. By Tuesday it looks like an area of low pressure will strengthen and move along the front. So it looks very wet and breezy. We have plenty of time to get updates on that.
