Blog: Warmer for two days before a weekend cool down…Sigh!

Yesterday was still cool but not too bad. I had lunch outside with meteorologist Jeff Edmondson. We were protected from the wind. So it felt decent, but it was chilly if you caught the breeze. Today we started off cold, but temps will jump as we go into the afternoon. Morning temps were in the 20s and 30s. There was a lot of frost and some spots of fog. However, there was also a lot of sunshine.

Sunshine On Tower Cam

We have high pressure sliding offshore. This will allow the winds to turn out of the south.

Regional Weather Map

We’ll have lots of sunshine with SSW winds running at 8-12mph. That should be able to push temps up to the upper 50s later today.

Forecast Temperatures Today

It will be very nice out this afternoon. We are warming up here, but they won’t be as warm today over the Midwest.

Forecast Temps Today

It will still feel like Spring there though, and it will definitely feel like Spring in the south. Our temps will only be a little above average.

Temperature Departure From Average

We’ll stay dry today. However, the moisture will increase quickly tonight. We’ll have a southwest breeze overnight into tomorrow morning. Rain showers will move in late tonight, and they will be pretty common tomorrow morning.

Future Trak (Friday Morning)

This could impact the morning commute. The showers should break up as we head into the afternoon. They should be more scattered and light.

Future Trak (Friday Afternoon)

We’ll continue with the southwest breeze until late in the day. So despite the clouds, we should be able to warm up to near 60 degrees.

Forecast Temps tomorrow

Unfortunately…( I am sighing in the weather center) we are going to cool down this weekend. High temps are now aiming for the upper 40s on Saturday and low 50s on Sunday.

Temperature Trend

We should be mostly dry, but some isolated showers will be possible on Saturday. The timing for them is still tricky. Our model has them in the morning.

Future Trak (Saturday Morning)

Some of the other models are in the afternoon. The would be from a fast moving upper level low moving through. None of the models have any big areas of rain. Check back for updates on the weekend forecast.

By the way… If you suffer from allergies (like myself), then you may have been wondering why you’ve been sniffling. We haven’t had a lot of super cold/dry air lately. In fact, we’ve had a pretty wet Winter so far. Therefore, plants are starting to come up already. Some daffodils are already in full bloom, and Day Lilies are popping up fast. Some trees look like they are starting to bud. So tree pollen is starting up. Also, we have a good amount of mold as the air has been damp and chilly on many mornings. On an average season tree pollen peaks around April.

Average Pollen Season

Last year it started and ended early. The whole season did. I guarantee you that will happen again this year. Today is moderate for tree and mold pollen.

Pollen Forecast Today

I had to take some allergy meds this morning, but I’ve actually had to take some for the last couple of weeks. I’m not looking forward to March in terms of allergies. At least I can be an allergy meter for you kind folks…
