Over the past several Halloweens we have had some varying weather. Last year we had temps falling through the 50s and 40s with scattered light rain showers. The wind was strong too. We even cancelled our neighborhood outing. However, if you go back a few years we had record heat in 2019.
This year is going to be another mild one. While we probably won’t break a record. We are going to heat up fast. This morning we started off with lots of sunshine and temperatures mostly in the 60s.
A light southwest wind overnight helped to prop up the temps. High pressure is offshore with a cold front far to the west.
We’ll have lots of sunshine all day. Plus, winds will be out of the southwest at 10-15mph. This will push our high temperatures up into the low 80s.
We’ll still be mild this evening during the trick-or-treat hours. Temps will start in the upper 70s. We’ll end in the low-mid 70s.
Keep that in mind for the kids (and adults) that have the thicker costumes. At least it will be dry.
Tomorrow we’ll stay warm. The front will make it to the Appalachians, but it won’t cool our area down. So we’ll be in the low 80s again.
We’ll be partly cloudy with a few more clouds by the afternoon. I’m keeping rain out of the forecast during the day tomorrow as it seems like the models are pushing back the chance a bit. So now I have some isolated showers from late Friday into Saturday morning.
We’ll dry out fast though. That is bad news as we really need some rain. We will finish out October as the 3rd driest on record.
Through the day we’ll have some clearing. Winds will pick up out of the north. High temps will only be in the low-mid 60s.
As mentioned, humidity will drop fast on Saturday. Dew points will drop from near 60 to near 40.
We’ll be partly cloudy on Sunday with highs in the 60s. Then we’ll warm back up to the 70s next week.
The tropics are still fairly quiet, but we are still monitoring that tropical disturbance in the western Caribbean.
It could form over the weekend as it drifts slowly north.
In world news…Some are talking about it, but I don’t think it’s getting enough attention. There has been some recent flooding in Spain that has been both deadly and historic. It is very similar to many of the extreme flash floods that have occurred over other parts of the world lately. I’m seeing pictures of piles of cars lining the streets of Valencia. Here is the article with more information: Spain flooding.
