Blog: Temps and pollen are up.

Yesterday, we had some nice weather for the eclipse. Temps were in the 60s at the time. They dipped a bit as the sun dimmed slightly during the afternoon. However, temps were able to rise some more into the evening. So we topped out briefly in the low 70s during that time.

Temperatures Yesterday

Over the last couple of weeks we have had some warm and cool streaks. We just finished a cool streak last weekend before we warmed to those 70s yesterday.

Temps Last 2 Weeks

So we are going into a warm stretch now. Today temps are going to rise up into the upper 70s with some 80s in a few locations.

Temps Today

We have high pressure just to our south with a stationary front to our north.

Regional Weather Map

We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds today. Winds will be out of the west/southwest at 10mph. It should be pretty nice out for most of the day. If we hold onto the sun a bit longer, then I wouldn’t be surprised if Norfolk hits 80 degrees today. Afterall, we did start in the upper 50s to near 60 this morning. We are still dry at the surface. Dew points are in the 40s and 50s. However, eventually the moisture will increase. So we’ll have extra clouds late in the day with some isolated showers in the region. That may cap temps a bit, but we’ll see.

Tomorrow we’ll have more clouds overall. We’ll also have a few scattered rain showers.

Future Trak Tomorrow Afternoon

We’ll have a steady southwest wind at 8-12mph. High temps will dip a bit due to the clouds. We’ll probably land in mid 70s.

Forecast Temps Tomorrow

By Thursday we’ll be pumping a lot more moisture into the region ahead of a cool front.

Muggy Meter

We’ll have mostly cloudy skies with some scattered showers later in the afternoon.

GFS Model Thursday

Highs will be in the 70s. By Thursday night and early Friday morning we’ll have a line of showers with some thunderstorms forming over the area.

GFS Model Early Thursday Morning

It will be pretty breezy in-general. So some strong gusty winds may combine with the thunderstorms. Scattered showers will continue into Friday morning. We will cool down to near 70 on Friday. Then we should dry out late Friday into the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 60s Saturday, but we should return to the 70s on Sunday.

Lastly, I mentioned in the title that the pollen levels are up. Tree pollen is high. Grass is moderate and rising. Mold is low but almost moderate. This will affect allergy sufferers today.
