We haven’t finished the month yet, but we are running above average for both temperatures and rainfall. We just finished another warm streak. High temps were in the 80s for over a week.
We had a wet month, but a lot of the rain was over the last week.
We actually did get some rain last night. In fact, it was briefly heavy in some spots.
We picked up some very light amounts of rain.
Norfolk had about a quarter of an inch.
This was along a cold front that is now offshore. High pressure is building in from the west.
We are going to have some really nice weather today. We’ll be mostly sunny. There will be a north wind at 10-15mph, but it will be a stronger breeze near the shore. Gusts will be to 20mph there. This will keep our high temperatures down in the upper 70s despite the strong sunshine.
Tonight the center of an upper level low will roll over the region. This could create some very isolated showers. We are drier now. Dew points are in the 50s. So it won’t be anything like last night.
Tomorrow we’ll be mostly sunny again through the day. The breeze should let up a bit. High temps will be in the mid 70s. It will be a very nice day, and a great start to the weekend.
The great thing about the next few days is how dry we are going to be. Dew points are in the 50s today, but they’ll be in the 40s by tomorrow.
These conditions could allow temps to fall to the low 50s by Friday or Saturday morning in some inland areas. It will be great sleeping weather. High temps will be in the upper 70s to near 80.
Notice that the humidity will climb some on Sunday. Temps will also rise. We’ll be in the mid 80s. There may be some isolated showers Sunday night. The GFS keeps trending a little earlier with the precip. So it’s possible that we could have a few spotty showers by Sunday afternoon. I’ll have a more definitive forecast about that in tomorrow’s weather blog.
