Yesterday we did have on and off rain showers through the day just as forecast.
It was heavy for a time in southern Virginia Beach, southern Chesapeake, and parts of northeast North Carolina. Here are the 24 hour rain totals:
The rain tapered off last night. The rain tally in Norfolk has made it up over 10 inches now.
However, we are still not officially in the top 10 list of wettest Julys on record.
The thing is… We probably won’t get much more rain today (which is a good thing). So we may not make it into the top 10 now. A cool front is dropping through the region, but it is moving very slowly.
We’ll have a handful of showers today, but there wont’ be much. It won’t be anything like the rain from the past couple of weeks.
We’ll have a lot of clouds with a little sun. There should be some partial clearing late in the day. We’ll develop a north/northeast breeze. It will run at about 8-12mph. This should all help to keep the temperatures down. Highs will be in the low-mid 80s.
The humidity will steadily drop through the afternoon. It should feel more comfortable by the evening.
It will feel very nice as we go into Saturday and Sunday. Dew points will drop down to the 60s, and for a time they will even drop to near 60. We’ll be partly cloudy tomorrow with only some isolated showers over the Outer Banks. Then we’ll be mostly sunny on Sunday.
High temps will be in the low-mid 80s. Low temps will drop down to the 60s Sunday and Monday morning. Yes!
If this forecast pans out, then this will be one of the nicest weekends that we’ll have had in about a month-and-a-half to 2 months.
The calm weather will continue into early next week. However, we will heat up a bit. High temps will rise to the upper 80s. Humidity will also start to rise. We’ll then heat up some more by the middle of next week.
It is still quiet in the tropics. Across the world though Typhoon Gaemi has caused a lot of destruction across the Philippines and Taiwan. Now China is preparing for the storm.
