WEATHER ALERT: There is a frost advisory for part of the WAVY viewing area until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Scroll down for details…
Sunday was a chilly washout. It rained pretty much all day, but at least it was a light rain. Truth be told we actually needed that rain. I took advantage of the wet day and rested inside all day (I needed it). Plus, it cleaned out the pollen and cleaned out the atmosphere. It’s also been a little while since we had more than 1/10 an inch of rain. Despite raining all day the amounts were still very light. We ended up with about a quarter to a half an inch over most of the region.
As mentioned, the clouds and the rain kept the temperatures down. We stayed in the 50s all day. We were on the north side of a cold front with an area of low pressure moving along the boundary. Today both of those features are slowly moving farther offshore.
High pressure is slowly edging towards us from the west. So we’ll have gradual clearing today. Winds will be out of the north/northeast at 10-15mph. There will be a few gusts to 20mph near the shore. This means that we are going to have another chilly day. High temps will only be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
This is well below the average of 72 degrees. We’ll keep clearing out our skies into the evening hours. Winds will become light and variable. This will set us up for a cold night tonight. It may even be cold enough for some frost in our inland/western locations. There are frost advisories there.
Temperatures in the metro will be near 40, but inland locations will be in the 30s.
Some locations inland/west will probably have some frost. Frost Advisories have been issued for some.
So you should bring in your potted plants. Some of the areas in the advisory may want to cover your gardens and flowers with a sheet or tarp.
Even though we’ll start off cold in the morning, we will warm up nicely in the afternoon. Skies will be mostly to partly sunny. Winds will be light and out of the southeast. That will push our temperatures up to near 70 degrees.
We’ll warm things up a little more on Wednesday. High temps will rise to the mid 70s. We’ll have a few showers in the morning, but they should kick out by the afternoon hours.
We’ll be dry and chilly again on Thursday. High temps could be near 60 degrees again.
We’ll probably be in in the 60s on Friday with dry weather. Hopefully, we’ll warm up next weekend. I’ll have more on that in tomorrow’s weather blog.
