Yesterday, we had some warm temperatures in the region. High temps made it into the mid-upper 80s over most of the area.
A couple locations hit the low 90s. It felt good, but it was definitely warm in the sun. Today we are going to heat things up even more. Most high temperatures are going to run close to 90 degrees.
This is over 10 degrees above average, but it won’t be record heat. We have high pressure just offshore with a cold front to our northwest.
We’ll be partly cloudy for a while with a steady southwest breeze (8-12mph) There may be some isolated showers or storms popping up by the mid afternoon.
As we head into the evening the chance for rain and storms will increase.
The cold front will get closer to the region, but it also be stalling out. We’ll have a good amount of heat and humidity in the area. So there will be fuel for a few strong to severe storms. We are in a marginal risk for severe weather according to the Storm Prediction Center.
Heavy rain and strong gusty winds will be the main threats. There may be some small hail as well. This will likely be round 1. Overnight a weak area of low pressure will move along the front. This will bring us round 2 around or shortly after midnight.
I think by this time we’ll have cooled down a little. So I think it will mainly be some scattered heavy showers with a few thunderstorms. It should wrap up by early tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow the front will be to the north. However, the surface winds will be light and variable. That means for a little while it may be coming in off of the water. Plus, we should have a little more cloud cover overall. This should decrease our high temps a little bit. They are aiming more towards the mid 80s.
We’ll have partly cloudy skies with a few showers and storms popping up in the afternoon. I don’t think there will be too much coverage. Maybe they will be isolated.
On Saturday we’ll increase the clouds through the day. There will be a little higher chance for rain in the afternoon.
High temps will be in the low-mid 80s. Even though the temps will be up and down a little. The humidity will stay up through the weekend.
By Sunday the fronts should lift north a bit. I’m calling for partly cloudy skies during the day with only some isolated showers or storms.
However, I do think we’ll have an increased chance in the evening again. High temps will be in the 80s.
On Monday for Memorial Day I believe we are looking at a mix of sun and clouds with some scattered showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. At least the high temps will stay in the 80s.
We’re definitely getting the trends for the weekend, but the forecast is a bit tricky due to the weak fronts in the region. So check back for updates. We’ll have even more details by tomorrow.
