Before I go into the forecast I want to get a check on climate. Temps have been up and down over the last month. We’ve had some cool streaks and some milder streaks. However, temps never really got crazy hot or crazy cold.
When you average all the days out so far it puts us pretty close to average for the month. However, rainfall is a different story. We are over 3 inches below the monthly average.
Outside of the Outer Banks, our area has only had a few one hundredths of an inch. This means that we are still the 3rd driest October on record.
So the bad news is that there will barely be any rain over the next 7 days. The good news is that the weather will be dry for this weekend and likely for the Halloween Holiday next week. Having said that, we have a cold front dropping to our south today. High pressure is building in.
We’ll have lots of sunshine with a light north wind. It will run at about 8-12mph. We’ll be very dry and cool. High temps will be in the upper 60s to near 70.
The weather should be fine for the Friday night football games this evening.
It will get chilly though. So take the warm jackets and sweatshirts before you go.
Tomorrow we’ll warm up a bit ahead of the next cold front. We’ll start the day with fair skies and a light southwest wind. Then around midday the winds will shift out of the north as the front arrives. We’ll have a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon. The front may pop off a stray shower or sprinkle, but the chance is super low. Most college football games and area events should be just fine. High temps will warm to the low-mid 70s, but temps may fall a bit later in the day.
The air will be much colder behind that second cold front. High temps will only be in the low 60s Sunday and Monday.
We’ll be dry through that time.
It’s a bit early, but it is on the 7 Day now. As of this time Halloween is looking dry and mild. High temps are aiming for the mid-upper 70s during the afternoon with temps probably falling into the upper 60s by the evening. We’ll refine that forecast as we get into early next week.
It’s still quiet in the tropics.
