When I got in this morning I noticed 2 things. 1. There were a few spotty showers over the area.
And 2. It was very mild. Temps started off in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. We had a light southwest wind, some moisture, and a good amount of clouds, and that kept the temperatures up a bit. Later in the shows we also noticed that there were a lot of surfers down at the oceanfront over the Outer Banks.
The surf looked pretty good with some nice clean swells coming in.
Anyway, a cold front was moving into the region from the northwest, but it was slow-moving.
That cold front will slide slowly to the south today. We’ll actually warm to near 70 degrees this afternoon with some mid 70s to the south. It will probably be in the upper 60s north of the metro.
Outside of the few showers this morning, we’ll only have a stray shower or two for the rest of the day. Winds will turn out of the north. They will run at 5-15mph with some gusts to 20mph.
Tomorrow the front will sink to our south. However, it may get hung up for a bit in the morning. That is a new possibility. Our Future Trak model now shows some clouds with isolated showers Sunday morning.
The air at the surface will be drying out between today and tomorrow.
So I don’t think there will be much hitting the ground. At this point though we’ll take any drop we can get. The clouds and possible showers should all drop to our south by midday. We’ll have more sunshine by the afternoon. Winds will be out of the northeast at 8-12mph. It will be much cooler. High temps will only be in the low 60s.
We’ll stay cool and dry on Monday with highs in the mid 60s. Then temps are going to warm up for the rest of the week.
As of right now, I think we are going to be running in the upper 70s during the day on Halloween. That means we’ll probably be in the low 70s during the evening. That’s a bit mild for the holiday, but at least it looks dry. We’ll refine that forecast as it gets closer.
It’s still nice and quiet in the tropics. At least for the next few days.
