PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — I cannot believe my time with WAVY has come to an end. I still remember the phone call from Stephanie that I had been selected. This internship has been the greatest experience. Networking with my potential coworkers and gaining expertise is what I will miss the most.

Since the Olympics have been going on, the HRS show has been on a pause for the past two weeks. During that time, I went out with promotions, ran prompter for the FOX 43 morning show and worked on my project.

I had no idea what I wanted to do for my final project. I thought I wanted to be a reporter and make reels, but that did not excite me. Every day after the HRS show, I logged into ENPS and wrote script or created monitors for the following day- so why not produce a segment I thought.

I decided to produce and write a segment for Community Connection. Community Connection is one of my favorite parts of the show. There are so many events that are happening in the Hampton Roads that people just don’t know about. From job fairs to charity events, Community Connection has you covered.

Mal and Deborah helped me with the order and flow for the first block. From there, I interviewed the Executive Director of Revive Community. This non-profit organization provides essentials to the community like food drives and free financial literacy classes. James helped me edit the interview, and I was ready to record in the studio the following week. Having full creative control during this project was my favorite part.

I have grown so much as a professional and forever grateful for this opportunity. Kenisha was the best supervisor an intern could ask for. Any time I needed personal or job-related advice, she was always there. Having people in my corner rooting for me, is something I do not take for granted!
