PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — I can’t believe that my internship is almost to its end. I remember my very first day just being eager to learn it all. As my final day approaches, final projects have been implemented among all of the interns. My final project I feel is a great opportunity that will boost my expertise and resume!

It all started when Mr. Mike Booth presented me with an idea that we would both be interested in. Both of us are sports fans and with me being a sports videographer for Old Dominion University it only made sense to incorporate it into promotions.

CW Hampton Roads will be joining the WAVY-TV family this fall. This huge opportunity will give our local community an outlet to view national and regional sports anywhere and anytime. The idea was to create multiple sports packages that range between 5 to 30 secs. Fast paced cuts of sports that include: basketball, football, baseball, college sports, NASCAR, horse racing, Live Golf and more.

Firstly, I wrote a script for each one and had Mike and Eric Pyburn to critique and shape it up perfectly. The only thing we needed was Craig Loper to come to set to kickstart the project into fruition.

Having to opportunity to film Craig was one of my highlights of the whole internship.

Nicole Brailer gave me really good advice for both filming and post production. How to make the shot properly exposed, audio levels hz for television, frame rates to shoot in, and framing work for an appealing shot. The process of shooting Craig was went really smooth and professional.

He came in and delivered on both camera and voice over lines. Hearing him say my script gave a different type of perspective of sports marketing I haven’t experienced yet. I’m used to attending ODU or regional sports games, recording, then making a mix out of highlights. With this, it felt more like an actual production. I’m excited to finish editing what I have and even more excited to see it air on TV and know that I had a hand in its creation!
