PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – As I reach the halfway point through my internship, it’s a good time to pause and reflect on my experience and lessons.
This journey has been filled with growth, challenges and a lot of opportunities. One of the major opportunities I have had was me stepping outside my comfort zone. The very first day I was encouraged to take on tasks and responsibilities that seemed scary at first. Whether this was going into meetings, managing projects, trying to time manage, writing for the WAVY news or collaborating with different people at the station. Each experience has pushed me to develop new skills and build confidence within myself.
The Lunch and Learn has prepared me for the real world and the insights on how to navigate to get my dream career of becoming a digital news writer.
Building professional relationships has not only expand my networking skills, but also guided me, given me support and navigated through this journey.
Facing and overcoming obstacles has strengthened my skills and also helped me to become a better news writer.
