Locally we are going to have some nice weather for a while. Drier air has finally arrived. It will give the ground a chance for the recent rainfall to soak in. We do have a couple of surface features nearby. There is a cool front to our west, but it is falling apart as it gets closer. High pressure is to our north. There is an area of low pressure (non-tropical) offshore.

We’ll be partly cloudy today with no rain in the forecast. High temps will be in the mid-upper 70s.

As I mentioned, the humidity has dropped some more. So it will be low-moderate today. Dew points are in the low-mid 60s.

We’ll have pretty similar weather over the next few days. We’ll have partly cloudy skies for most of that time with high temps in the 70s.

The humidity should be comfortable for most of that time.

We do still have a northeast breeze today. That is going to produce one more high tide with minor tidal flooding.

After that the tidal flooding should go down to nuisance levels or no tidal flooding.

I am still anticipating a bigger cool down by early next week. High temps next Tuesday and Wednesday will be closer to 70 degrees.

The tropics are busy, but luckily there is no tropical systems near the U.S. There are 2 named systems in the Atlantic. Hurricane Kirk is in the central Atlantic. It is a major hurricane, but it will stay out to sea. Meanwhile tropical storm Leslie is gaining strength. It looks like it will follow the path of Kirk.

While both will stay out to sea, Kirk will likely send higher waves to the east coast over the weekend into Monday.

The waves may get up to 6-7 feet along the Outer Banks Sunday into Monday. It may be some very nice surf for a time. However, we’ll probably have a high risk for rip currents through that time as well.

There is some good news… The tropical disturbance in the Gulf Of Mexico has a lower chance of formation.

The models do not have it becoming much of a system. It looks like it will become a big/broad area of low pressure. However, they do have it creating some heavy rain over parts of the Florida coast.
