HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Looking to check out all of Hampton’s historic Black history sites during Black History Month?
The city is bringing back its Hampton Black History Site Pass, which allows you to check in to sites on your smartphone at each of the locations and learn more about them. It also includes descriptions of the sites, info on operation hours and more.
The sites include the Fort Monroe Visitor & Education Center, the First Africans Historical Marker, the Emancipation Oak, Hampton History Museum, Tucker Family Cemetery and Aberdeen Gardens Museum.
And this year, the Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau is offering a new prize for users. Those who check into four locations with the pass by March 15 will entered into a drawing to win a special gift basket. It includes a gift certificate for dinner in Hampton, gift items from Hampton businesses and a poster of 1619 Commemoration quilt.
