Kiahnna Patterson is the weekend morning anchor at WAVY-TV 10.
A native of Newport News and an ODU grad, Kiahnna is excited to deliver the news in her hometown. She prides herself on covering community-based stories, and highlighting cool people doing cool things to address the needs in the 757.
Kiahnna started as an intern and production assistant at WAVY working behind the scenes, then returned to the station in 2018, working overnight as the morning reporter for four years.
She is a passionate advocate for domestic violence awareness. Throughout the years, she highlights the dangers of domestic violence and factors that prevent survivors from leaving toxic relationships. Even compiling a list of local resources for survivors on WAVY.com. Her work has been recognized by the National Association of Broadcasters Celebration of Service, National Coalition against Domestic Violence (NCADV) and Girls Recognizing our Worth Inc (GROW Foundation).
Before reporting with WAVY, Kiahnna worked as a multimedia journalist with WBTW News13 based in Myrtle Beach, SC.
During her time, she covered the Florence Bureau of seven different Pee Dee and NC Border counties. While working with the number one news station in the area, she had a major impact in providing up-to-date information on a variety of stories such as the Hurricane Matthew flooding, two missing children cases, and numerous FBI investigations on violent crimes.
For Kiahnna’s dedication and commitment to serving the local area, she was awarded the Dillon County “Quality of Life Award.”
Kiahnna received a Bachelor’s of Science at Old Dominion University. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science, she majored in Communication with a minor in Women’s Studies.
