Meteorologist Don Slater is the dean of Hampton Roads weathercasters.
Don has more experience with Hampton Roads weather than any other forecaster. He joined WAVY-TV in 1981 as the station’s main weatherperson. Prior to that, Don was a weathercaster for the Nebraska Television Network. He also worked at KIHI-TV in Fargo, North Dakota.
Don’s 40+ years of forecasting the weather in Hampton Roads is more than double the local experience of any other area meteorologist.
Don attended Moorehead State University and Kearney State. He’s also attended Mississippi State, the University of Oregon, and Old Dominion University. He and his family reside in Norfolk.
