NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities say a gang member wanted for a recent murder in Norfolk could be hiding out in New York.

U.S. Marshals said on Tuesday 24-year-old Thomas Nesmith on the run for shooting death of a Suffolk man in March.

According to Norfolk police, Patrick M. Cochrane was found shot inside a car on East Little Creek Road. Cochrane, 25, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Second-degree murder charges were later secured against three people: Becca Banta, Jeremy Harris and Nesmith. Norfolk police arrested Banta and Harris in early March.

Nesmith, meanwhile, has been on the run since the shooting. U.S. Marshals said Nesmith’s last confirmed to have been in Brooklyn as recently as mid-March.

U.S. Marshals said Nesmith, a known member of the Crips gang, is considered armed and dangerous.

A reward of $1,500 is being offered for information on Nesmith.
