NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two men have been charged for a 2016 shooting in Norfolk that resulted in the death of a man who had spent a decade in the U.S. Navy.

Police said Thursday that 34-year-old Raymond Martin and 37-year-old Tremaine Martin are facing several charges including second-degree murder for the death of Christopher R. Allen.

The shooting happened Jan. 4, 2016 on Waverly Way. Allen, 27, was found shot at the scene and later died at a local hospital.

Allen, a petty officer in the Navy at the time of his death, was described as being the “life of the party” and someone who made friends easily. He had spent 10 years in the Navy.

Joshua Prince, one of his shipmates, said in 2016, “Allen was to me the epitome of a strong and effective leader, a friend beyond measure and the example of a good man.”

Prior to the arrests of Raymond and Tremaine Martin, a $10,000 reward was being offered for information on the shooting.

Both men are being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond. They are also faced with charges of malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm in a felony, shooting into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
