NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News woman is being accused of ramming another woman’s SUV with her car during a confrontation outside of a daycare, police say.

Newport News police charged 29-year-old Marya Pearson, of Chesapeake, with two counts each of malicious wounding and child abuse and neglect, as well as intentional damage, for the alleged incident.

Police said officers were dispatched to a daycare on Warwick Boulevard just after 7 a.m. Tuesday after a 911 call hang-up. A 33-year-old woman told officers she had gone to the daycare that morning to tell Pearson something regarding an incident involving their children.

Police said she accused Pearson of trying to get into her SUV on the passenger side. The door was locked, however, and Pearson was not able to get in.

Pearson then allegedly went to the back of the car, removed the windshield wiper and starting causing “extensive paint damage.”

Police said the woman tried to back up slowly and leave, but Pearson stayed behind her SUV.

At some point during this confrontation, Pearson got in her car and rammed the side of the woman’s SUV.  Police said both women had their 6-year-old daughters in the vehicles at the time.

No one was injured in the incident, according to police.
