VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — One of two Virginia Beach men wanted in a series of armed robberies of grocery stores around the area has been arrested.
The FBI said in a news release Thursday that 22-year-old Devonta Le Edward Doyle and 19-year-old Darrius Anthony Heuser-Whitaker were wanted for their alleged roles in the robberies in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, including one in which an employee was shot.
A spokesperson for the FBI said early Friday that Heuser-Whitaker was arrested overnight by the Virginia Beach Police Department. Doyle is still on the loose — and is considered armed and dangerous.
The two allegedly participated in these robberies:
- The Food Lion at 2544 Bainbridge Boulevard in Chesapeake was robbed Sept. 25 around 10:30 p.m.
- The Food Lion at 1920 Centerville Turnpike in Virginia Beach was robbed Sept. 29 around 11 p.m.
- The Harris Teeter at 5060 Ferrell Parkway in Virginia Beach was robbed Oct. 3 around 12:45 a.m. Authorities say the store manager was shot in this robbery.
Three other suspects have also been arrested in the case.
Doyle is described as approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The FBI says he has several tattoos, including one that reads “God Forgive Me” on his chest.
