CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – An intermediate school in Chesapeake was put on a temporary lockdown after gunshots were heard in the area Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, just before 2:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Acorn Street for reports of shots fired.

Out of a precaution, Carver Intermediate School was put under a 15 minute lockdown while officers were searching the area. No injuries were reported, police said.

Sabrina Cochrane, a nearby resident, spoke with 10 On Your Side about the incident.

“I heard gunshots, so I ran outside and that’s where everybody was, outside because of the school,” Cochrane said.
