YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) – Law enforcement has tracked down the suspects connected with the homicide of a 19-year-old man in Yorktown.

York-Poquoson Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 200 block of Barham Boulevard just before midnight on Oct. 30 in response to calls about gunshots. They arrived to find 19-year-old Elysiah Lee-Jordan, who had been shot twice. He died from his injuries.

The shooting happened outside the Yorktown Square Apartments. The victim’s 24-year-old sister was also shot. She was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

An investigation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Jafay Jabarre Moore on Nov. 7, in Sumter, South Carolina and 27-year-old Dashawn Gwaltney-Bassett on Nov. 16 in Newport News.

Following Moore’s arrest, the Newport News Police Department and Sheriff’s Office Investigators executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Madison Avenue to obtain additional evidence on the homicide.

As a result of information obtained, Gwaltney-Bassett was arrested. He is currently incarcerated in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

Gwaltney-Bassett has been charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, willfully discharging a firearm in a public place and reckless handling of a firearm.

Moore is currently in custody at the Sumter County Detection Facility and is facing the following felony charges: murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and reckless handling of a firearm.
