HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton was honored by TIME Magazine “Best Inventions of 2024.”
The Advanced Composite Solar Sail System (ACS3) was developed and built at NASA Langley. It is studying how giant sails in space can move a spacecraft. That mission launched back in April.
The other recognition was for their work on the Europa Clipper spacecraft, which is expected to head to Jupiter in the 2030s. NASA Langley used their facility to test the High Gain Antenna which will be used to communicate with the spacecraft during its long mission to the outer solar system.
