Coats for Families

Thousands in Hampton Roads struggle to stay warm each winter, and sadly, the numbers continue to rise.

WAVY-TV 10 remains the only local news station in our region helping those in need, by collecting new and like-new coats for all ages and sizes.

Once again, local businesses, non-profit organizations and churches have teamed up to make the Coats for Families mission possible.

We are accepting donations of new and like-new coats at our sponsor drop-off locations listed below.

Coats for Families is fueled by the warm hearts of 10 On Your Side’s longtime partner, Albano Cleaners. They ensure any gently used coats, from the Southside to the Peninsula, are cleaned. Each week, coats are collected from 10 On Your Side distribution partners, by Harrison’s by Apple Moving.

“We’re honored to continue this tradition of giving back with the support of our Hampton
Roads community,” said Carol Ward, WAVY-TV 10 and WVBT FOX43 Vice President and
General Manager. “We believe that everyone deserves the basic comfort of warmth, and
we’re committed to ensuring that no family faces winter without a coat.”

Now through December 29, 2024, you can drop off new and gently used at select Grand
Furniture locations, Casey Auto Group Dealerships, First Advantage Federal Credit Union,
Patrick Henry Mall, Hilltop Marketplace, and Red Mill Commons. Additional sponsors
helping spread the message this year include Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers and McDonald’s
of Hampton Roads & Northeast North Carolina. Join us for the Live Event Fridays with our
Super Doppler 10 Meteorologists from 4 – 7 p.m. on November 8, and 15, as well as
December 6 and 13.
